The college application process can be complicated and time-consuming, leaving students and their families with a lot of questions, including, "Where do I begin?" Visiting your school counselor should always be step one. They are tremendous resources and students must know their own school's process and deadlines. Use every resource your school has to offer such as college information nights, college admission counselor visits, scholarship information, and online college search and planning programs like SCOIR or Naviance. Many students and families, however, need additional support to navigate this important and complex process.

What is an IEC?
Independent Educational Consultants, or IEC’s, can be a tremendous aid to families in need of answers and with little time in their busy schedules to spend countless hours researching colleges, financial aid, and strategies for application success. They can ease the stress for students and families alike and offer expert support in an often overwhelming landscape. Consultants affiliated with IECA (Independent Educational Consultants Association) are armed with the support and resources of a professional organization and leaders in the industry.

My student-centered approach is based on listening carefully and helping students articulate their unique strengths, interests, values, passions, and experiences. A complete student profile helps me to create a strong list of potential colleges for my students and helps them build on their self-awareness to make future decisions with more confidence. I help each student develop their story and convey it effectively in their essays and applications. I find it immensely fulfilling to work with students as they discover where they will thrive and be successful, and to share in their excitement along the way.
